Jim slipped away from us on November 30, 2011 after a long and bravely fought battle with cancer.
Jim was the favorite sideman for an amazing array of bands and other players. He deftly and tastefully wielded banjo, mandolin and guitar for The Reprobates, the New Viper Revue, Malone & Hutch and a number of other folks over the past 40 years. He also developed quite a reputation as a folklorist and walking encyclopedia of traditional music.
Additionally, Jim would step up to the mike from time to time and deliver a spotless and refreshing version of a musical chestnut or two.
Jim's experience as a teacher, player and collector of music made him a vital member of Wepecket's recording production team, as well.
Everyone in the Wepecket family is deeply sorrowful at his passing and as deeply committed to honoring his memory by carrying on the work that Jim so dearly loved.
We have started a memorial/tribute page for Jim. If you'd like to contribute a photo or some written thoughts to the page, please e-mail to info@wepecket.com.
