The Dillon family, out of Hinds County, Mississippi has been making music for many years, and this is the latest distillation. With the release of this recording, the Dillonaires are committed full-time to the job of bringing joy through music as they tour the country over the next two years.
Sherman Lee with son Andrew John and daughter Anna Lee are multi-instrumentalists with strong, clear voices who perform old-timey Southern music and shape-note songs. They combine their talents and love for traditional music with an upbeat sense of humor that keeps listeners on their toes – when not tapping them – throughout a performance. They're as much fun to watch as they are enjoyable to listen to.
Their commitment to the music is matched by their commitment to social justice and care for the environment. Sherman Lee ran for Governor of Mississippi on the Green Party ticket in 2004, garnering more than 16,000 votes.
The Dillon family also organizes the state’s Earth Day celebration each year in April.
